The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has partnered with Powerlec Bahrain 2024, an international trade fair and conference focusing on solar, renewables, energy storage, and the electrical industry.

The event, which aligns with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 for a clean energy future, was officially opened today by HE Mohamed Abduljabbar Alkoheji, BCCI’s Second Vice Chairman, in Manama.

Powerlec Bahrain 2024, organized by Verifair, will run from September 23-25, featuring a conference under the theme: “Bahrain’s Net Zero Ambition – Unfolding Renewables, Green Hydrogen for a Sustainable, Decarbonized Economy.”

At the event, Fareed Bader, Chairman of the Industry & Energy Committee at BCCI, emphasized Bahrain’s pioneering role in the region’s renewable energy movement.

“Partnering with Powerlec Bahrain 2024 offers another opportunity to highlight Bahrain’s leadership in the circular economy and its commitment to mitigating climate change.”

The US Government’s International Trade Administration (ITA) praised Bahrain’s leadership in sustainability, noting that the Kingdom had reached its energy efficiency target of 6% six years ahead of schedule.

The conference’s key partners include the Dubai Renewable Energy Business Group (DREBG), the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA).

According to Hinde Liepmannsohn, Executive Director of MESIA, Bahrain is making significant strides in solar, wind, and waste-to-energy projects as part of its National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP).

The Kingdom aims to produce 280 megawatts of renewable energy by 2025 and 710 megawatts by 2035.

The conference will feature several experts in sustainability, including Eng. Ebtisam Isa Al-Shenoo, Basim Al Saie, and Dr. Abeer Shaheen.

Jeen Joshua, Managing Director of Verifair, highlighted that Powerlec Bahrain 2024 is a critical platform for stakeholders in the renewable energy space to discuss Bahrain’s path toward decarbonization and a sustainable future.
